Two Acts to be amended on fast track to ease death registration of disaster missing persons

The government has started the process of amending two Acts to ease the registration of deaths of citizens who went missing in the devastating disaster in the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli river areas.
Home Secretary Kedar Nath Sharma said the government is set to amend two Acts to give legal recognition to the death registration process for missing citizens.
The Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs is preparing to adopt a "fast track" procedure to resolve legal complexities in death registration related to climate change-induced disasters and people who went missing as a result.
Government officials said the amendment is being made because there have been legal complexities in registering deaths when the body of a person missing in a disaster has not been found.
