Domestic flight tickets to get cheaper for Dasain

Domestic airfares are set to become cheaper for people travelling home for Dasain and Tihar.

Following complaints that fares had been raised to take advantage of the festival season, Prime Minister Balendra Shah took interest in the matter and issued directives.

At the initiative of Tourism Minister Khadga Raj Paudel, the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal held discussions with representatives of airline companies on Thursday. Following this, the companies have agreed to sell tickets below the approved maximum fare.

Shree Airlines said it has stopped the expensive fare category on flights departing from outside Kathmandu. Buddha Air said it is already selling tickets at the minimum rate and that most of its flights for the days concerned are already full.

The company also urged the public to stay alert, saying confusion about fares was being spread through fake AI-generated screenshots.
