Marsyangdi flood submerges Manang's Talgaun again

Due to continuous, incessant rainfall, a flood in the Marsyangdi River has once again submerged Talgaun in Manang.

Talgaun, located in Nason Rural Municipality-1, lies on the bank of the Marsyangdi River. Locals said the village was flooded after an obstruction disrupted the river's flow. Ward Chairperson Minarasi Gurung said many houses in the village were submerged due to the flood, adding, 'The Marsyangdi is closing in on the village, please inform the administration.'

After river water entered the settlement, local residents have begun moving to safer locations. That settlement, swept away by floods in 2078 BS, had only recently been rebuilt.

With the incessant rainfall, the risk of flooding remains very high in districts including Manang, Mustang, Kaski and Lamjung.
