Congress to skip Kojagrat Purnima tea event this year over flood and landslide damage

The Nepali Congress will not hold the traditional tea event it has organized on the occasion of Kojagrat Purnima this year.
Congress's acting chief secretary Krishna Prasad Dulal announced this in a statement issued on Sunday. The statement said the tea event would not be held at this sorrowful time, when floods and landslides have caused heavy loss of life and property.
The decision comes as the country is in mourning due to floods, landslides and other natural disasters. The party said the event would not be held in light of the mourning over the heavy human toll caused by flooding in the Bhotekoshi river.
Congress has organized the tea event every year on Kojagrat Purnima. The party has announced that the event will not take place this year.
