Bheri-Babai diversion project targeted for completion by Asar 2085

The pace of construction on the Bheri-Babai Diversion Multipurpose Project, a national pride project launched for power generation and irrigation expansion, has been increased, with a target of completing the remaining work by Asar 2085.
The project, which began in fiscal year 2068/69 BS, was planned to be completed in three years, but remains unfinished even after 15 years.
According to senior divisional engineer Bharat Pathak, physical progress stands at about 70 percent and financial progress at about 67 percent.
The project's completion deadline has been pushed back repeatedly due to slow progress.
Delays in the construction of the main civil structure have also affected other construction packages.
This has made it challenging to complete the project within the set time.
According to Pathak, the remaining work is estimated to take two to three years.
He said the pace of work has been increased recently.
