Campaigners urge vigilance against human trafficking risk after disasters

Experts have pointed out that women and children in disaster-affected areas can face a heightened risk of human trafficking.
Campaigners have suggested special vigilance on this front in districts affected by the Bhotekoshi-Trishuli floods. According to them, the chaos created during disasters can be exploited to put people at risk.
According to preliminary data, the floods that hit the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli rivers on Bhadra 10 directly affected more than 60,000 people from about 15,000 families.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Iqbal Hawari of the District Police Office, Nuwakot, spoke in an interview about how to avoid trafficking and what to stay alert to.
