Reconstruction proposal to make Bidur a new economic hub, discussion on cooperation with China

An expert who has been advising the government and donor agencies on reconstruction after the Bhotekoshi floods has said a long-term policy should be adopted to develop Bidur in Nuwakot as a new economic centre. According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, the floods caused the greatest damage in five districts, including Rasuwa and Nuwakot.
According to a preliminary damage and needs assessment by the Authority and the National Planning Commission, reconstructing and rehabilitating the damaged structures will require more than approximately NPR 723 billion. The same study found that more than 7,500 houses and around 13 hydropower projects were damaged.
