Naagdhunga uphill stretch mostly deserted after tunnel opens

With the Naagdhunga-Sisnekhola tunnel now in operation, the Naagdhunga road has remained largely deserted this Dashain. The tunnel, connecting Dhading and Kathmandu, is the main entry point into the federal capital from about 68 districts across the country.
The Naagdhunga uphill stretch on the Tribhuvan Highway used to see heavy vehicle smoke, road dust and long traffic jams. Even with heavy passenger traffic during Dashain, there is now no jam-related hardship, and the Naagdhunga checkpoint area has also become calm.
Travellers have felt relieved as the earlier compulsion of being stuck inside vehicles for hours has ended.
