Cyclone Arnab's impact: 250 tourists stranded midway in Kanchenjunga region

After cyclone Arnab, formed over the Bay of Bengal, brought bad weather to the Himalayan region, 250 domestic and foreign tourists who had set out to visit the Kanchenjunga region of Taplejung have been stranded midway.
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority has urged people not to go trekking for the next two days. Mountaineers who have already reached certain locations have been told to stay there safely. The authority has also urged that ripened crops, including paddy, not be harvested during these two days.
The administration has also urged against trekking in the Manaslu region. It has asked trekking agencies, trekkers, guides and all other stakeholders to inform their tourists about this.
According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division, the effects of cyclone Arnab, combined with the partial influence of westerly winds, have been visible in various parts of the country since Thursday.
