Heavy rain, snowstorm risk: tourists urged to avoid high Himalayan areas Kartik 11-15

The Department of Tourism has urged tourists and mountaineers not to travel to high Himalayan areas. The department issued the request citing heavy rainfall expected in various parts of the country and the risk of snowfall and avalanches in Himalayan areas from Kartik 11 to 15.

According to the weather bulletin of the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, there is a possibility of heavy rain accompanied by thunder, lightning and windstorms during this period. Keeping this risk in mind, the Department of Tourism has urged people not to travel to high Himalayan areas.

Similarly, the District Administration Office in Mustang and Lo-Manthang Rural Municipality have also urged people not to undertake treks in high Himalayan areas from October 29 to 31.
