Regional cooperation needed to tackle climate disasters in Himalayan region: Minister Shrestha

Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Birajbhakta Shrestha has said that regional cooperation is needed to reduce the complex disasters created by climate change in the Himalayan region.

Speaking at a United Nations conference in Bangkok, Thailand, Minister Shrestha called for increased use of space technology, data sharing and regional cooperation to tackle climate and geological disasters.

He expressed the view that since disaster risks in the Himalayan region are becoming more complex due to climate change, countries need to share technology and information to address them.

Minister Shrestha emphasized the use of technology for disaster reduction and the need for countries to work together at the regional level.
