The parliamentary hearing committee has sought additional details on two issues before endorsing Jigyan Kumar Thapa, nominated as ambassador to Japan.

The committee has sought this information from the Nepali Embassy in Japan through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The first issue concerns whether Thapa has given up his Japanese permanent residency permit, or PR. The committee had already sought details on this earlier.

Second, the committee sent a separate letter on Kartik 9 asking whether he had received salary benefits from the Japanese government's fund.

Thapa had presented his action plan before the committee on Asoj 28 and had also answered lawmakers' questions. At that time, while endorsing the names of proposed ambassadors to 10 countries, the committee had held back Thapa's name.

The committee had rejected the names proposed as ambassadors to Saudi Arabia and Malaysia. The committee must decide on Thapa's case by Kartik 18.
