NPR 140 billion project drawn up for second phase of agriculture modernization

A project worth about NPR 140 billion has been prepared to run the second phase of the National Agriculture Modernization Program.
The project will come into operation from the next fiscal year. It covers plans for commercial production in agriculture and livestock, infrastructure construction, farmer training, boosting output, and distributing subsidies.
The project aims to raise farmers' income, create employment in agriculture, and make the country self-reliant in agricultural goods. Its preparation is based on past experience and progress.
According to Jeet Bahadur Chanda, information officer at the Program Management Unit, reviews with various stakeholders on the project have already been completed.
The first phase, which began in fiscal year 2073/74 BS, had about NPR 56.35 billion allocated for it. That phase, which ran for about a decade and concluded in fiscal year 2082/83, created about 2.383 million jobs, according to the unit.
