Government prepares to enforce slaughterhouse and meat inspection law in Valley from Mangsir 1

The government is set to implement the Slaughterhouse and Meat Inspection Act in Kathmandu Valley from Mangsir 1. The government has begun consultations to enforce the act, which has long remained ineffective.

For this, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forests and Environment held discussions with the heads of local levels in Kathmandu Valley. During the discussions, the ministry said the new rules would be implemented from Mangsir 1.

It has been 28 years since the act was introduced. The ministry has now moved to enforce the act, which has failed to be implemented effectively for such a long time.

While the ministry has prepared to enforce the act, it has been said that implementing it within Kathmandu Valley itself remains a challenge.
