China proposes joint Nepal-China committee to manage border points

China has proposed a draft agreement to form a joint committee between the two countries to better operate their shared border points.
The draft, submitted to the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies, calls for establishing a Nepal-China Port Management Cooperation Committee.
According to the draft, the committee aims to strengthen management of border ports and facilitate trade. Its objectives also include streamlining customs clearance procedures and easing the movement of people and goods.
The proposed committee would handle information exchange, consultation and coordination on border point issues. The draft also lists cooperation on infrastructure improvement and border security among the committee's responsibilities.
