Study: Nepal's population to peak before the world's

If current trends in births, education and migration continue, Nepal's population is projected to peak at around 35 million by about 2060, a new study has found.
After that, the study says, the country's population will never again reach that level and will gradually decline. This means Nepal is set to reach its population peak roughly 20 years before the world does.
The study was published in the journal "Populations" on Kartik 14. It extends the population projections prepared by the Vienna-based Wittgenstein Centre from the year 2100 out to 2300.
The researchers have led this projection since 2013, and it is used by climate and environment researchers worldwide. It breaks down the population of 200 countries by age, sex and educational attainment.
Such projections are known as Shared Socioeconomic Pathways, or SSPs. The researchers argue that since the population story does not end in 2100, the projection has been extended over a longer period.
