Home Minister Sudhan Gurung flew by helicopter to the Budhigandaki flood-affected area in Gorkha on Saturday, carrying relief supplies.

He went to Sirdibas in Chumnubri Rural Municipality-3 and inspected the flood-hit area. Sirdibas is not only part of Home Minister Gurung's home rural municipality but also the ward where his house is located.

Along with relief material, the helicopter also carried two drones capable of transporting goods. The home minister's schedule includes inspecting other flood-affected locations in Gorkha as well.

The flood in the Budhigandaki has swept away roads and footpaths in the area, making movement difficult. With roads blocked, delivering relief to affected settlements and reaching local residents has been a challenge.

The flood of Asoj 25 swept away four bridges in Dharche Rural Municipality in Gorkha alone. With the bridges gone, the route to Kerauja, Runchek, Hulchuk and Keraujabeshi has been cut off, leaving around 800 households without contact. To get food supplies to the 15 households in Keraujabeshi, Dharche Rural Municipality has rigged up a makeshift cable-and-pulley system across the river.
