Army begins installing Bailey bridge over Falakhu Khola in Betravati

The Nepal Army has begun installing a Bailey bridge over the Falakhu Khola in Betravati, on the border of Nuwakot and Rasuwa. A team deployed from the army's engineering corps has taken up the work to restore road connectivity blocked by floods.
To reach the bridge site, the team prepared an access route by breaking through hard rock along about 300 metres of road section. Nearly 240 feet of Acrow Bailey bridge components, capable of bearing around 60 tonnes, were brought to the construction site by Asoj 19. Right after transport was completed, work to join the bridge sections began on Asoj 20.
Once the bridge is ready, transport and movement between flood-affected Nuwakot and Rasuwa are expected to become easier. The bridge is also expected to ease the daily movement of residents, as well as the transport of food, essential goods and relief materials.
While installation work continues, the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has flagged the possibility of heavy rain in one or two places in the hilly areas of Bagmati Province on both Tuesday and Wednesday.
