Ambassador-designate Joshi to prioritize economic, labor diplomacy with Germany

Nepal's ambassador-designate to Germany, Saru Joshi, has pledged to further strengthen Nepal-Germany relations by prioritizing economic and labor diplomacy. She made the commitment at a meeting of the parliamentary hearing committee on Tuesday.

Joshi also pledged to work toward arrangements for voting from abroad. At the same committee meeting, Nepal Communist Party (NCP) lawmaker Barsha Man Pun had asked whether voting from abroad would be possible in the upcoming local elections.

Madhu Kumar Chaulagain, a lawmaker from the ruling Rastriya Swatantra Party, asked Joshi how she would work in Nepal's national interest while maintaining diplomatic propriety and moving away from donor-centric thinking.

At the start of the meeting, committee chairperson Bodhnarayan Shrestha had ruled that lawmakers should speak in Nepali as much as possible.
