Jhapa flower farmers demand administration halt flower imports from India

Farmers engaged in commercial flower farming in Jhapa have demanded that the administration halt imports of flowers from India.
The farmers made the demand to prevent a situation where locally grown marigolds find no market. They have urged that imports of flowers from India be stopped so that the local market goes to domestic produce.
Since demand for marigolds and other flowers rises during Tihar, farmers fear that imports would leave domestic produce unsold. Farmers who grow marigolds commercially in Jhapa have placed their demand before the administration.
