Harry Kane wins Ballon d'Or, first English winner since 2001

England and Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane has won the men's Ballon d'Or award, finishing ahead of France's Kylian Mbappe and Spain's young player Lamine Yamal.
At a ceremony held at the Palladium in London, the 33-year-old Kane received this individual honour for the first time in his career.
Kane is the first English player to win the award since Michael Owen in 2001, and only the fifth English player to win it overall. Before Owen, Stanley Matthews, Bobby Charlton and Kevin Keegan had won the title.
For Bayern Munich, he is the first player to win the award since Karl-Heinz Rummenigge in 1981.
At the same ceremony, Kane also received the award for the year's best striker. Indian cricketer Virat Kohli congratulated Kane on social media platform X, noting that the success was the result of years of hard work.
