Iranian president, Qatari emir hold talks in Moscow

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Qatar's Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani held talks in the Russian capital, Moscow.
According to Iranian state media, the two leaders met on the sidelines of the summit of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum taking place in Moscow.
According to Iranian state television, the meeting reviewed the current state of relations between Tehran and Doha. Both sides stressed the need to further strengthen political and economic ties and expand bilateral cooperation.
The official statement did not say whether the war under way in the Middle East was discussed. The war began on February 28 after the United States and Israel attacked Iran, during which Iran fired missiles and drones at several locations in the region, including Qatar.
Qatar has been active in recent months in diplomatic and mediation efforts to halt the war that has spread across the Gulf region. Iran and Qatar jointly operate the world's largest natural gas field, located in the Gulf.
President Pezeshkian is also scheduled to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday. In early October, Putin said Russia was ready to take part in mediation to end the war in the Middle East.
