Defeated candidate Flavio Bolsonaro reaches US, Trump administration to grant family visas

Senator Flavio Bolsonaro, defeated by Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva in Brazil's presidential election, has left the country and reached Florida, United States. He flew to the US on Tuesday, a day after Sunday's election results were announced.
Brazil's Supreme Court had ordered him to surrender his passport within 24 hours, but he left the country before that deadline expired. According to Onlinekhabar, he has been barred from travelling abroad and his passport has been cancelled.
After news broke that Bolsonaro had fled the country, the Trump administration decided to grant entry visas to the United States for him and his family. A senior official at the US State Department shared this information.
The controversy over Bolsonaro's foreign travel, the court order, and the US administration's visa announcement appear likely to heighten political tension between Brazil and the United States.
