Investigate the trend of undemocratic power change, says Oli

CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has demanded an investigation into the trend of changing power through undemocratic and criminal means and forming governments favorable to certain interests.

Former Prime Minister Oli said this while unveiling the website of UML's Policy Study and Research Foundation at the party's central office in Chyasal, Lalitpur, on Thursday.

Oli acknowledged that recent political and other events have pushed the goal of a 'Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepalis' back by a few decades. However, he argued this should not be seen as a failure or defeat. He described the social reforms of his tenure as steps oriented toward socialism.

He said the declaration of a street children-free nation and the end of begging practices were the result of the government's responsible conduct. He called the senior citizens' allowance, health insurance and the 'Khulau Khata' campaign for children humanitarian work.

According to Oli, the real value of any job is not determined by how many hours are worked, but by the adequate income it provides. He said attention must be paid to increasing production, creating sources of income, and providing employment that can meet a family's basic needs. He added that party and government policies must be based on deep research and facts, not guesswork.
