Bardiya, Kailali sugarcane farmers' dues to be cleared before Dashain

Payments long overdue to sugarcane farmers in Bardiya and Kailali are set to be released within the next few days. The Ministry of Agriculture, Forests and Environment says it is completing the technical process required for the disbursement.

According to ministry Secretary Dr Rajendra Prasad Mishra, the procedure relating to the payment has already been received. "Since the procedure for payment has already been received, preparations are underway to complete the necessary process and send the funds within a day or two," he said.

Secretary Mishra said work is underway to ensure farmers receive the money before Dashain. Accordingly, the ministry said the payment amount will be sent to farmers' accounts.

Sugarcane farmers in Bardiya and Kailali had long been awaiting overdue payments. The ministry has set a target of completing the entire process and releasing the funds before Dashain.
