Work begins to remove 'Rhino Cruise' vessel stuck at Narayani bridge

Work has begun to remove the 'Rhino Cruise' vessel, which was swept away by floodwaters in the Narayani River and got stuck under the bridge. The effort to safely remove the cruise began after the water flow in the river decreased somewhat.

The cruise, belonging to Hotel River Crown located in Botetol, Gaindakot Municipality-2 in eastern Nawalparasi, was swept away by floods and lodged between the right-side abutment and pier of the Narayani bridge. It has been described as Nepal's first large cruise vessel.

The effort to remove the cruise resumed this morning. A technical team is preparing to remove the vessel in a way that causes minimal damage to the bridge's pillars. Tracks and a platform are being built to remove the cruise without damaging the bridge, and necessary mechanical equipment has been deployed. Security personnel have also been mobilized for the removal operation.

Meanwhile, police said that the Narayani bridge connecting Narayanghat in Chitwan and Gaindakot in eastern Nawalparasi has been reopened to vehicles other than heavy vehicles.
