Trump criticizes Norway after missing out on Nobel Peace Prize

US President Donald Trump has sharply criticized Norway after failing to win the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize.
Addressing a campaign rally in Syracuse, New York, on Friday, he called the decision shameful and said it had left a permanent stain on Norway's reputation. This year's prize was awarded to Navi Pillay of South Africa, a former judge at the International Criminal Court and former UN human rights chief, for her contribution to international justice and human rights.
Trump said he had not even heard of Pillay's name. He claimed he deserved the Nobel eight times over for having stopped eight wars, repeating his claim of having played a role in halting the India-Pakistan war. He also said he had played a role in easing tensions between the two Koreas, Japan and North Korea, and between China and Taiwan. Trump also made claims about his efforts regarding Iran and the Russia-Ukraine war.
