Low visibility disrupts domestic flights, several flights cancelled

Domestic flights to Tumlingtar, Bharatpur and Pokhara airports have been disrupted due to low visibility.

According to the Tribhuvan International Airport office, Buddha Air's scheduled flight to Tumlingtar has been cancelled, along with 3 of its flights to Bharatpur. Some flights to Pokhara have been delayed while awaiting clearer weather.

Buddha Air information officer Dipendra Karna said continuous rain and hazy weather since Thursday have reduced visibility at these airports. Mountain sightseeing flights have also been suspended due to the weather.

Yeti Airlines spokesperson Sudarshan Bartaula said flights to Pokhara could not operate due to insufficient visibility. Yeti has asked passengers to check flight status on its website or mobile app before heading to the airport, warning that flights could be delayed or rescheduled.

Flights at these airports will not resume until the weather improves and visibility is adequate. Passengers who reached the airport early in the morning were left stranded when flights could not take off.

Flights to other domestic destinations are operating as usual, and international flights are running normally, the airport office said. The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has forecast a 100 percent chance of thunder with heavy rain in Pokhara today, and a 90 percent chance of rain in Kathmandu.
