Harmanpreet Kaur of the Indian women's cricket team has given up captaincy in all three formats of international cricket: Test, one-day and T20.

Announcing it through Instagram, she said that although she has stepped down as captain, she will continue to play as a player out of her passion for the game.

Under her captaincy, India won the ICC Women's ODI World Cup, hosted at home last year, securing a world-level title for the first time.

On September 22, India beat Sri Lanka to win the gold medal at the Asian Games held in Japan for a second consecutive time. That match was her final game as captain.

Kaur, who took charge of the T20 team in 2016, has also led the ODI and Test teams since 2022.

According to Ratopati, she captained India in about 211 international matches.

She made her debut in international cricket for India in 2009 through T20 and ODI matches.
