Congress convention: Shankar Tiwari announces candidacy for general secretary post

Young Nepali Congress leader Shankar Tiwari has announced his candidacy for the post of general secretary at the party's 15th convention.

Tiwari, who is also a youth analyst, made the announcement at a press conference in Kathmandu on Sunday morning.

He said he is contesting to transform and protect the Congress. He said his candidacy is aimed at strengthening party chair Gagan Thapa and making the party's ideology more powerful.

The Nepali Congress's 15th convention is set to begin from Sunday at Khula Manch in Kathmandu. Leaders are continuing to announce candidacies for office-bearer and central committee posts ahead of the convention.
