House of Representatives' second session ends after 145 days, 12 bills passed

The second session of the House of Representatives under the Federal Parliament formally concluded on Friday. The session, which began on Baishakh 28, ran for 145 days until Asoj 16. During this period, 68 meetings were held over 62 days, and the session lasted a total of 277 hours and 30 minutes.
A total of 35 bills were registered during the session. Of these, 12 bills have been passed by both houses, while 11 bills have already been authenticated by the President. Twenty bills remain under consideration. Friday's meeting sent seven bills, including those on the National Defense University and waste management, to committee for clause-wise discussion.
Concluding the session, Speaker Dolprasad Aryal said Parliament had played a serious role on issues of public concern, including disaster management. He noted that Parliament was not merely a process of majority decisions but a forum for people-oriented debate. At the final meeting, the Speaker presented leave applications for approval from lawmakers who had been absent from sittings for a long time.
Meanwhile, the National Assembly's 21st session also concluded on Friday. The session, which ran for 145 days from Baishakh 28, held 52 meetings.
