Congress Central Committee's first meeting fixes seniority of 19 office bearers, sets Mangsir campaign

The first meeting of the Central Working Committee elected from the Nepali Congress's 15th General Convention has fixed the seniority of 19 office bearers. The decision was taken at a meeting held at the party's central office in Sanepa on Thursday, after the elected office bearers and members took their oath.
The meeting decided that, instead of holding a tea reception, the party would focus on providing relief to flood victims, and that work would be reviewed every four months. Party President Gagan Thapa announced that the party would no longer hold the traditional practice of exchanging congratulations with applause while seated on sofas inside the hall.
President Thapa said a nationwide campaign would be run throughout the month of Mangsir to connect with the public and the party. He said a special 'Congress Is Ready' campaign would be carried out to convey the message of the general convention to the people and to strengthen the party organization.
Senior Vice-President Bishwa Prakash Sharma said the party must put the country, rather than the party itself, at the center of its work. Meanwhile, acting Chief Secretary Krishna Prasad Dulal has been given responsibility for updating the Election Commission with the names of the new Central Working Committee.
