Teenkune protest: Human Rights Commission recommends action against four security officials

The National Human Rights Commission has concluded that the security plan was not effectively implemented during the pro-monarchy protest held at Teenkune in Kathmandu on Chaitra 15, 2081. On this basis, the commission has recommended action against four security officials. The commission, which investigated the incident, made the recommendation to take action against the then security officials of Kathmandu while making its report public.
According to the commission, expired tear gas shells were fired during the protest. Taking this into account, the commission has asked that security agencies be equipped with adequate resources.
The commission has also concluded that the then head of government, Oli, and ministers made hateful remarks against parties and groups holding different faiths and views. The commission has drawn attention to the need to refrain from such remarks.
In its report on the incident, the commission has included its findings and recommendations regarding implementation of the security plan, the materials used, and the statements made by officials of the then government.
