Opposition renews demand to remove PM's border remark from parliamentary record

The opposition Shram Sanskriti Party has again demanded that Prime Minister Balendra Shah's remarks on the Nepal-India border be removed from the parliamentary record.

On Wednesday, before the House of Representatives meeting formally began, some lawmakers stood up, after which Speaker Dolprasad Aryal said the meeting had not started. After the meeting began and the lawmakers stood again, the Speaker gave MP Ambika Devi Sangraula time to speak.

Sangraula called "treasonous" the remark Prime Minister Shah made from the parliamentary rostrum on Jestha 17, when he said "Nepal too has encroached on Indian territory in many places."

She said her party has long been demanding that the statement be corrected on the floor or removed from the record. She objected that despite repeated demands, there has been no response so far. Drawing the government's attention through the Speaker, she demanded to know by when the demand would be addressed.
