Dasain exodus from Kathmandu Valley grows, over 56,000 leave in 24 hours

With Dasain approaching, the flow of passengers leaving Kathmandu Valley for their hometowns has increased. People who have been living in the capital for studies, employment and various occupations are now rushing home to celebrate Dasain.
In the past 24 hours alone, more than 56,000 people have left the Valley. The number of passengers leaving the Valley each day continues to rise.
The great Hindu festival of Bada Dasain has already begun. Lakhs of citizens who have been staying in the Valley for jobs, studies and other purposes are now heading back to their native places.
As passenger traffic increases, there is also growing concern about road conditions toward various destinations. Since some highways and road sections have been affected by recent floods and landslides, travelers are advised to check road conditions before setting out.
