The Nepal Electricity Authority has charged and put into operation the 132kV Kerun substation it built in Kanepokhari Rural Municipality-2 in Morang, on Kartik 15.

The substation aims to make electricity supply more reliable in the northern and southeastern parts of Morang.

Located on the Duhabi-Damak section of the east-west 132kV transmission line, the substation has been connected to the line through a loop-in, loop-out system.

According to the authority, three power transformers have been installed here, bringing total capacity to nearly 150 MVA.

Two 33kV lines each have been built to send electricity towards Rangeli and Biratchowk, which will be made operational before Tihar. Five 11kV feeders for local distribution will also be charged soon.

According to the authority's executive director, the substation will help meet rising electricity demand in Morang and surrounding areas, increase the distribution system's capacity, and provide quality service to consumers.
