Delhi imposes new restrictions to curb air pollution, doubles parking fees

India's capital New Delhi has doubled vehicle parking fees from Sunday to curb air pollution.
Employees at government and private offices have been directed to work from home. Officials said the main goal of these measures is to cut vehicle emissions.
Vehicles that do not meet prescribed emission standards will not be allowed to enter the capital. Building demolition that raises dust, and construction in open areas, have been immediately halted.
According to a statement from the office of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Delhi's winter action plan has been in effect since November 1. The plan includes strict pollution control measures, effective implementation and round-the-clock monitoring.
