Rain cancels quarterfinal, Nepal out of Asian Games cricket

Nepal have been eliminated from the men's cricket competition at the 20th Asian Games in Japan after their quarterfinal against Sri Lanka was cancelled due to rain.

The third quarterfinal, scheduled for Tuesday morning at Korogi Sports Park in Nishin, could not be held because of rain that fell from early morning. Even the toss could not take place because of the rain.

With the match cancelled, Sri Lanka advanced to the semifinal on the basis of seeding. Nepal, who had reached the quarterfinal as group winners, had to exit the competition without playing a single ball.

Even before the match, there were signs that the rain, which has repeatedly disrupted the tournament, could affect this game as well.
