Several leaders, including three women, announce candidacy for Congress joint general secretary

Several leaders have announced their candidacies for joint general secretary at the 15th general convention of the Nepali Congress, which began today.
Pratima Gautam, Ishwari Neupane and Sita Gurung, all members of the Central Working Committee, have announced they will run for joint general secretary. Neupane is a former whip of the Nepali Congress parliamentary party and a former chairperson of the State Governance and Good Governance Committee.
Joint General Secretaries Yogendra Chaudhary and Prakash Rasaili 'Snehi', who currently hold the post, have expressed their wish to contest it again. Announcing his candidacy for joint general secretary once more, Rasaili said he would work to strengthen the Congress and the country under the leadership of Gagan Thapa.
Central committee member Abdul Sattar, former Chitwan party chair Bikash Koirala and Dolakha party chair Barma Lama have also announced their candidacies for joint general secretary. Lama said he would run under the indigenous nationalities' inclusion quota.
According to the convention schedule, closed-door sessions will be held on Asoj 19 and 20, and the election process will take place on Asoj 21 and 22.
