Stock market rises as NEPSE gains, but turnover falls

NEPSE, the stock market benchmark index, rose by about 12 points on Tuesday. The index closed at around 2,578 points.
Although the index rose, trading turnover declined slightly compared with the previous trading day. Shares worth about Rs 3.13 billion were traded on Tuesday, compared with about Rs 3.27 billion the previous day.
The share prices of about 169 companies rose, while those of about 95 companies fell. The prices of about 15 companies remained unchanged. Fluctuations in all sub-groups were below one percent. The trading sub-group rose about 0.82 percent, banking about 0.65 percent and hydropower about 0.62 percent. Only the non-life insurance and microfinance sub-groups fell.
The share price of Trishuli Hydropower rose about 5 percent.
