NEPSE falls for third straight day, dips below 2,600 points

The share market index NEPSE has fallen for a third consecutive day, dropping below 2,600 points. According to the Nepal Stock Exchange, the index closed down about 5 points at roughly 2,599 points on Wednesday.

The index had last closed below this level on Bhadau 29. The Sensitive Index, which tracks trading of large companies, also fell by about 2 points.

Even as the index declined, turnover rose. Trading amounted to about Rs 4.65 billion on Tuesday, compared to about Rs 4.76 billion on Wednesday, when roughly 12.6 million shares were bought and sold.

On Wednesday, share prices rose for about 110 companies while falling for about 160. All sub-indices declined except trading, hydropower and mutual funds. The trading sub-index climbed by about 1.2 percent.

Sindhu Bikas Bank's share price rose the most, by about 14 percent. Sayapatri Hydropower and Ghalemdi Hydro rose between about 7.5 and 8.5 percent. Ghalemdi Hydro topped the turnover chart, with shares worth about Rs 390 million traded. Sanima Growth Fund's price fell the most, dropping by about 4 percent.
