CK Raut re-elected Janamat Party chair; Sanjay Kumar Yadav named general secretary

Dr CK Raut has been re-elected chair of the Janamat Party. In the election held on Sunday as part of the party convention completed in Birgunj, Raut received about 960 votes, according to the party. He was the only candidate for the chair post. Since the party constitution requires at least 20 percent of total valid votes, voting was held even though he was the sole candidate.
Sanjay Kumar Yadav of Siraha has been elected general secretary, with about 600 votes, according to the party. He was contested by Mamta Jha and Chandan Kumar Singh, but both failed to cross the required 20 percent vote threshold. Nirmal Kumar Mandal, also of Siraha, won the post of deputy general secretary with about 500 votes, defeating rival Lalit Chandra Mallik.
Seven vice chairs were elected: Dr Jaykant Raut, Anita Devi Sah, Basant Kumar Kushwaha, Anita Kumari Mandal, Madhav Prasad Singh, Narendra Prasad Chaudhary and Rajay Kumar Yadav. Eleven people contested the vice-chair posts. Parmeshwar Murmu, Harpal Singh Sodi, Manohara Devi Baitha and Roshan Khatun lost.
Voting was held at the convention for 26 office-bearer posts, with nearly 100 candidates in total.
