Deuba faction's parallel convention: district conventions today

The faction of Nepali Congress former president Sher Bahadur Deuba will hold district conventions in most districts on Sunday.
As part of preparations for the parallel general convention, this faction has already held ward, rural municipality, municipality, and provincial assembly and House of Representatives constituency-level conventions.
In some places, ward and constituency-level conventions are still pending. Leader Deepak Kuikel said the target is to complete those too by Sunday.
According to the schedule, the provincial convention will be held on Mangsir 4, and the central general convention from Mangsir 21 to 23.
A formal request has been made to the metropolitan city to provide Khula Manch in Kathmandu for the general convention, which around 8,000 representatives are expected to attend.
The Deuba faction says Khula Manch has been requested because of a lack of a suitable venue.
Meanwhile, coordinator Dr Shashank Koirala has nominated Gopi Prasad Pun of Sunwal as co-coordinator for Nawalparasi district.
Pun had lost the election for convention representative from the labour cluster at the establishment faction's 15th general convention.
The Deuba faction has assigned Dharmadatta Chapagain as district coordinator in Nawalparasi.
Separately, leader Mohan Basnet, from the other faction, has expressed dissatisfaction over President Gagan Thapa's instruction not to hold grand events. He has also strongly criticised Thapa's "Mission Prime Minister" campaign.
