Drivers and hotel operators both to face action for serving stale, poor-quality food on highways

The Department of Transport Management has issued a directive notice instructing that passengers travelling on public transport be served clean and quality food at clean hotels.

The department has directed drivers to stop vehicles only at hotels and restaurants that serve passengers clean, hygienic and quality food.

The department has said that if stale or poor-quality food is served at highway hotels and restaurants where public passenger vehicles stop, strict legal action will be taken against both the vehicle driver and the hotel operator.

The department has urged passengers to report any such problems by calling "100."
