Supreme Court orders accounts officer Mainali, accused of raping colleague, held in custody

The Supreme Court has ordered that accounts officer Pramod Mainali, accused of raping his own colleague, be held in custody while the case proceeds.

Mainali is an accounts officer working at the Office of the Comptroller General. He was arrested on rape charges following a complaint filed by his colleague.

A joint bench of Supreme Court justices Kumar Regmi and Nityanand Pandey overturned the earlier orders of the Kathmandu District Court and the Patan High Court, and directed that Mainali be held in custody.

According to the Supreme Court's order, Mainali will now remain in custody until the case reaches a final verdict.
