14,800 sheep and goats arrive in Pokhara for Dashain, sold through haat bazaars

Some 14,800 sheep and goats have arrived in Pokhara ahead of the Dashain festival. Traders have brought the animals to Pokhara for sale from the Himalayan district of Mustang as well as Darchula, Bajhang, Bajura and Dolpa.
Haat bazaars have been set up in Pokhara to sell the animals, with markets operating in Simpani and Hemja.
As the festive atmosphere of Dashain spreads through villages and towns, the trade in goats brought from altitudes above 4,000 meters above sea level adds a distinct bustle to Pokhara, Gandaki's main commercial hub.
This year, along with herders, elected representatives from Mustang have also come to Pokhara to sell Mustangi goats.
