RSP launches probe into MP Khagendra Sunar, bars him from formal events

The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has launched an internal investigation into allegations against its House of Representatives member Khagendra Sunar. The party has directed Sunar not to attend any formal program in his capacity as a public office holder until the investigation is concluded.
News reports about Sunar have appeared in the media, audio recordings involving him have become public, and serious questions have been raised against him. Citing the attention this has drawn, the party has directed its Central Discipline Commission to investigate immediately.
Sunar was dragged into controversy after an audio recording surfaced in which he was alleged to have mistreated a woman over the phone. He is accused of threatening and blackmailing a woman.
The RSP has said it will also cooperate with any investigation carried out by state bodies on the matter. The party made this decision public on Asoj 27.
