President issues disaster ordinance, allowing missing persons to be declared dead at once

President Ramchandra Paudel has issued a disaster-related ordinance. On the recommendation of the Council of Ministers, President Paudel issued the "Ordinance to Amend Certain Nepal Acts Relating to Disaster, 2083" on Friday.

According to the ordinance, the government will be able to declare persons who have gone missing in a disaster dead in a single step, without further process.

The government had recommended that the President issue three ordinances. Of these, the ordinance amending the disaster-related act was issued on Friday.

The ordinance has been brought with the objective of amending various Nepal acts relating to disaster. With its issuance, the amendments made to the relevant acts have come into effect.
