Festival security plan: over 8,000 police deployed in Koshi, Saptari unveils its own plan

Ahead of the upcoming Dashain, Tihar and Chhath festivals, Koshi Province Police has implemented a special security action plan, deploying more than 8,000 security personnel across the province.
Security has been tightened in all 14 districts of the province to prevent theft, robbery, fraud and traffic accidents that could occur during the festivals. According to Province Police Chief DIG Shekhar Khanal, deployment has been increased with top priority given to market areas, highways, public transport, religious sites, border points and centers of economic activity. Drones and police dogs will also be used for surveillance across the province.
Meanwhile, in Saptari district of Madhesh Province, the District Police Office held a press conference on Friday to make public its own special security plan for the festivals. According to Superintendent of Police Rupak Khadka, around 900 police personnel — including uniformed and plain-clothes police as well as traffic police — will be deployed across the district.
Under the plan, arrangements have been made for pickets, foot patrols, mobile teams, market monitoring, passenger help desks and refresh points. Additional police will be deployed at the Chhinnamasta Bhagwati and Kankalini temples, banks and financial institutions, gold and silver shops, and parking areas. Khadka said additional personnel would be requested from Madhesh Province Police if needed.
