Nepali Congress's 15th convention opens today at Khula Manch, with over 7,500 delegates attending

The 15th convention of the Nepali Congress begins today, Sunday, at Khula Manch in Kathmandu. The inaugural ceremony will be held at 2 pm. The party says more than 7,500 delegates from across the country and from abroad will take part in the convention, which runs from Asoj 18 to Asoj 22. Top leaders and foreign guests will attend the inaugural ceremony.
The closed-door session starting tomorrow will also be held at Khula Manch. Delegates will be able to watch and listen live, via digital boards, to the discussion on the report to be presented in the session. Citing the fact that results from electronic voting machines would take more than a day, paper ballots will be used to elect the new leadership.
Implementing the amendments made to the constitution at the last special convention, the convention will carry out 18 new practices this time, ranging from the representation of youth, women and various communities to 'lateral entry'. General Secretary Pradip Paudel is at the convention venue, coordinating preparations including stage management.
The five-day convention will set the party's new ideological direction and elect a new central working committee.
